Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Leh (3,500 m)

  • Airport pickup

  • Complete rest for acclimatization
  • Evening walk in Leh Market (if comfortable)

Overnight: Leh

 

Day 2: Leh – Nubra Valley (125 km | 5–6 hrs)

Drive via:

  • Khardung La Pass
  • Diskit Monastery
  • Hunder Sand Dunes
  • Optional camel ride

Overnight: Nubra Valley

 

Day 3: Nubra – Pangong Lake (170 km | 6–7 hrs)

  • Scenic drive through Shyok route
  • Reach Pangong Lake
  • Sunset photography

Overnight: Pangong

 

Day 4: Pangong – Hanle (175 km | 6–7 hrs)

Drive through the Changthang plateau.

En route:

  • Chushul (subject to route permissions)
  • Vast high-altitude plains
  • Nomadic Changpa settlements

Evening:

  • Milky Way photography
  • Stargazing session

Overnight: Hanle Homestay

 

Day 5: Hanle Exploration

Visit:

  • Hanle Monastery
  • Indian Astronomical Observatory (visitor access requires advance permission and follows strict rules)
  • Dark Sky Reserve
  • Wildlife spotting (Kiang, Himalayan marmots, birds)

Optional:

  • Excursion toward Umling La (if road conditions, permits, and time allow)
