Essential Medical & Packing Prep
- Consult for preventative medication: Ask your doctor about taking Acetazolamide (Diamox). Official guidelines often suggest a 250mg dose twice daily starting two days prior to arrival. Also do not forget to bring your other prescriptions, if any.
- Pack strategic clothing layers: Ladakh sits in a rain-shadow zone with extreme temperature shifts. Carry heavy woollens, a windproof jacket, thermal inner-wear, and gloves.
- Guard against harsh sunlight: The sun is bright here but, also harsh.The thin atmosphere offers minimal UV filtration and sunburn is very common. Apply high-SPF sunscreen(spf 30 and above) frequently, and wear polarized sunglasses and a sun hat.
